We all know that the best way to prevent ageing is by applying sunscreen. However, as many women we love makeup. There will be a good day in which our makeup looks so on point and the thought of reapplying sunscreen thru the day makes it heartbreaking. There are products out there that do claim that the sunscreen works well with makeup. From my experience there are a few that have worked well for me.
There is the infamous stick sunscreen. This one is meant to glide on top of the makeup and not smudge it. It is the Shiseido; Clear Sunscreen Stick SPF 50+. It is small which makes it convenient. The product does last for a long time, so that makes up for the price. There is minimal movement to the makeup. I do recommend after applying to tap it into the skin afterwards to hide the strikes. After, each use I would clean the sunscreen to remove the product. To keep the product clean. The cost of this is $32.
The second product is the Tone Blur Essence Sunscreen SPF 50+ PA++++. The product is by the company, Dearcloud. The sunscreen glides onto the skin so easily. I like the fact that the product creates a soft finishing look after I apply my makeup. It really does look like I have a filter on in real life. The product doesn’t leave a white cast either for days when I don’t feel like wearing makeup. Throughout the day when I can, I will apply it on top of my makeup. I found that the best way for me to apply it is by tapping it into my skin. I do use more product to be able to cover my face and ears. After I apply it, I then make sure to blend my makeup again. I do like that it does not leave a cakey finish since texture is so serum like. The price is $18. The same company also makes a cushion sunscreen. It is Miffy Tone Perfecting SPF Cushion Set. I have not tried this product yet, but the packed cushion makes it easier to carry around and apply. When I am in public and need to apply with my other traditional sunscreen products. I will go to a bathroom wash my hands before applying the product. It is good practice to not apply any products to your face with dirty hands. However, I won’t need to do with the cushion set. It already has a cushion that keeps the product clean. I won’t need to clean my hands before applying. The price for the cushion set is $40. I will make a post about the product in the future. However, in terms in convenience. It what gets my attention the most.
Finally, another product that I would recommend is the Anthelios Mineral Tinted Ultra-Light Face Sunscreen Fluid SPF 50 by La Roche-Posay I recommend this product for no foundation days or workdays. It does cover up minor blemishes. If you would like more coverage, then this is not the product for you. The product feels light and blends easily to my skin. In my experience it does well with my setting powder. There are plenty of setting powders on the market that have sun protection. This can be covered in another post. The cost for the Mineral Tinted Sunscreen by La Roche-Posay is $39.99.
Sunscreen is one of the best investments you can make in your skincare routine. Not only does it help prevent premature aging, but it also enhances the overall look and feel of your skin.
If you plan to be outdoors for more than a couple of hours, these products really come in handy. Keep in mind that sun protection is especially important between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m., when the sun’s rays are strongest.
And don’t forget: it’s not just your face that needs protection. Your body does too! (We’ll cover that in another post—so stay tuned.)
All pricing mentioned is from the Ulta website. This post is not affiliated with any of the brands mentioned. I just genuinely love these products for their performance, ingredients, and value.
